The passage of time is unforgiving and we all know that. Resisting and fighting against the effect of aging isn’t anything new. Trying to counter, delay, or reverse its impacts on our skin has been a daily habit for most people for a very long time. Just like we change with every passing year, so does our skin. Your needs when you’re 20 years old are very different from those you might have at 50.
The first type of skin care that we all have to adopt—regardless of age—is prevention, avoiding sun exposure or pollution. After that, depending on our needs, we can resort to aesthetic medicine.
Our biological age is conditioned by our DNA, but there are other factors that can accelerate the aging process and this is where we can take action to reverse it by eliminating or correcting bad habits like:
- Tobacco use
- Bad nutrition
- Sedentary lifestyle
- Insufficient daily water intake
- Not using SPF50/30 screen adequate for our skin type
The first thing we have to take into consideration is that just because two different types of skins are of the same age, they don’t necessarily behave the same way. A lot depends on genetics, but skincare matters as well. However, there are some common denominators that help us define the ideal treatment for every generation.
